After numerous sightings of the five-door Thar testing vehicle, Mahindra has officially unveiled the first teaser of the upcoming SUV and confirmed its name. The five-door variant will be called Thar Roxx, one of the names Mahindra trademarked in December 2023.
Expected to be one of the biggest launches of 2024, the Mahindra Thar Roxx is set to debut on August 15, 2024, continuing Mahindra’s tradition of unveiling major new models on this date. The design of the Thar Roxx seems to match the recently spotted undressed version. The iconic round headlights that are synonymous with the Thar family remain, but now feature LED projector units and C-shaped daytime running lights.

Other familiar design elements include wheel arch-mounted turn indicators, retro-style mirrors, C-shaped LED taillights, and door handles, while the five-spoke wheel design looks fresh. The Mahindra logo will be found between the bonnet and the grille and it is also expected to have a 360-degree camera.
While the teaser doesn’t reveal anything about the interior, previous spy photos suggest that the SUV will have an all-digital instrument display and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, possibly the same as the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Other expected features include rear air conditioning vents and a panoramic sunroof. The five-door Thar Roxx is expected to be powered by the Scorpio-N’s 2.2-litre diesel engine which produces 174bhp.
A 2.0-litre medallion turbocharged petrol engine producing 201bhp will also be available. A six-speed manual or automatic gearbox is available as a transmission to be mated to both engines and all-wheel drive will be standard, although a rear-wheel drive version will also be offered to offer a more competitive starting price.
