Learner’s License

Online Process
- Visit the State Transport Authority website (https: //cot.gujarat.gov.in/driving-licence.htm) and download the driving licence application form.
- Fill up the form and submit it along with the supporting documents to the nearest RTO.
- If you do not have a learner’s licence, you can book an exam centre for your learner’s licence.

Offline Procedure
- To apply for a driving license offline in Gujarat, you need to follow the steps below.
- Please note that you can apply for a permanent driving license once you have held your instructional license for 30 days.

- 4 from your nearest RTO.

- While applying for a commercial driving license, you will also need to submit Form 5:H.

Check Driving License Status Online
- Step 1: Visit the Gujarat Transport Department website – https://cot.gujarat.gov.in/driving-licence.htm
- Step 2: Next, you will be asked for some information. The information asked for is B. Driving License Number, Date of Birth, and Verification Code
- Step 3: After entering the above details, click on “Check Status” to know the details of the status of your application.

Check Driving License Status Offline
- To apply for a driving license offline in Gujarat, the following steps must be followed: Applicants should note that they can apply for a permanent driving license after holding the instructional license for 30 days.
- Obtain application form No. 4 from your nearest RTO.
- Fill it up and submit it along with the relevant documents.
- While applying for a commercial driving license, you will also need to submit Form 5. H.
- Driving licenses are issued by driving schools and automobile companies.
- You will also need to pay a nominal fee of Rs. 250 to the RTO. H.

Gujarat Driving License Renewal
If you want to renew your driving license in Gujarat, the validity period is usually 20 years from the date of issue. However, if a driving license holder attains the age of 50 before the expiry of 20 years, the driving license will have to be renewed. - Submit the original for verification.
- On successful verification, your driving license will be renewed.
Documents Required for Renewal of Driving License in Gujarat

Examination Process to Obtain a Driving License Gujarat
- While applying for a permanent driving license in Gujarat, the applicant has to go through a certain examination process.
- The driving test is carried out in the presence of a motor vehicle inspector whose duty is to check the driving skills of the applicant.
- Candidates must bring their vehicle, for which they have applied for a driving license, to the testing centre.
- If the applicant passes the test, they will be issued with a driving license within a few days.
- If they fail the test, they can retake the test after a week.
Inclusion of another Class of Vehicle to the Existing Driving License Gujarat
An application should be made in Form 8 along with the original driving license to add another category to an existing two-wheeler driving license. While applying, a fee of Rs. 50 for a driving license, Rs. 200 for an IC card driving license, and Rs. 50 for a driver’s license is to be paid. The applicant must obtain a learner’s license but is exempted from the computer knowledge test.
The applicant can appear for the driving license test 30 days after receiving the teaching license. To change the details/obtain a duplicate driving license, an application is made in L.L.D. Form along with the original driving license details, and a fee of Rs. 200 is to be paid.
If the applicant still needs to remember the original IC card number, he can request that information by submitting an application form stating his name, address, and date of birth, paying a fee of Rs. 25.
To change driving license details like name, address, etc.
- An application should be made on plain paper paying a smart card fee of Rs.200/-.
- N.O.C. Should be obtained from the original driving license authority and attached to the application.
International Driving Permit (IDP)
- To obtain an International Driving License, an application form in Form 4 (A) and a medical certificate in Form 1 (A) should be submitted.
- Photocopy of existing driving license.
- The application should be attached with copies of the passport, visa, and three passport photographs.
- A fee of Rs. 500 has to be paid for this.
- The permit will be issued for one year or the validity of the existing driving license, whichever is earlier.
- No duplicate International Driving Permits will be issued or renewed after expiry.
- International Driving Permits will not be renewed on expiry.
- Please note that such driving licenses are issued only to Indian nationals and can be obtained directly from the R.T.O. must be presented.
- Issuance of a Driver’s License and Learner’s License will be handed to the applicant in person on the day they come to take the knowledge test.
Each driving license Gujarat will be sent by express mail to the address given by the applicant on the application form. International Driver’s Licenses will be handed over to the applicant in person.
