Best-selling Compact SUVs in India In September 2024

The September sales report of compact SUVs is out and stands at par MoM with over 2 per cent, though. Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara top the charts once more, while Tata Curvv SUV-coupe broke a majestic stride of its maiden appearance. Let’s have a look at every compact SUV fared in last month’s challenge.

Hyundai Creta emerged at the topmost slot in the compact SUV sales chart for September 2024 despite a MoM slump of 5 per cent in demand with nearly 16,000 units sold. It held the highest share of nearly 32 per cent in the market segment during the said month.

Post Creta, the Maruti Grand Vitara was the only other compact SUV to breach the 10,000-unit sales mark in September 2024. While the Maruti SUV witnessed a growth of nearly 14 per cent in its MoM number, the YoY market share contracted more than 3 per cent.

The Kia carmaker managed to sell nearly 7,000 units of the Seltos during September. The Seltos registered a MoM sale with almost 6.5 per cent growth.

A downward spiral was witnessed by the rebadged variant of the Grand Vitara, the Toyota Hyryder in its month-on-month sales, with over 17.5 per cent decline. Toyota sold almost 5,400 units of the Hyryder in September 2024.

One of the newest additions in India’s compact SUV market, the Tata Curvv SUV-coupe, logged almost 38 per cent monthly growth last month. More than 4,700 units of the Curvv were shipped during September. Sales data for the Tata Curvv ICE and Tata Curvv EV are included in the numbers.

Honda was able to sell 237 more units of the Elevate in September as compared to October. Elevate also lost nearly 8 per cent of its market share on a YoY basis.

Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun together lured more than 3,300 customers in September 2024. The Kushaq managed more than 17.5 per cent growth in monthly sales, but the monthly demand for Taigun stayed almost the same as in August.

Having suffered a loss of nearly 19 per cent in terms of sales MoM, the MG Astor failed to even cross the even 1,000-unit sales mark last month. Market share was very marginally over 1.5 per cent in September 2024.

In September 2024, a few hundred sales were achieved by the Citroen Basalt SUV-coupe and the Citroen C3 Aircross, which barely managed to pass the 500 mark. For the same period, these two models summed up less than 1 per cent of market share.
