Adult Occupant Protection
Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test Score: 10.19 of 16.00
Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test: 16.00 of 16.00
The head and neck of the driver and passenger received great protection in frontal impact. The chest of the driver is protected well, and the co-driver’s chest has a fair amount of protection. The driver’s thighs and left leg, as well as the co-driver’s thighs, had marginal protection. All of the side impact test components obtained great protection from the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis, which gave a full score of 16 out of 16.
Child Occupant Protection
In the dynamic test, the Basalt scored 19.90 out of 24 for child restraint systems. For the front and side protection of the 18-month-old, the dynamic score is 8 out of 8 and 4 out of 4, respectively.
However, at the frontal impact, the 3-year-old child was disappointing with a dynamic score of only 3.9 out of 8 and the same for the sides was 4 out of 4.
Though not a flawless score, we are highly impressed by the Basalt’s safety ratings. For the test, you and variants of the Basalt NA petrol were used, while Plus and Max variants of the turbo-petrol Basalt were used.
